Deeks’ Surf Log – 05/18/15

May 18, 2015

Do svidaniya, Russia! Writing this one from the plane in an effort to keep myself busy. So far I’ve endured a very excited Kensi showing off her new “weapon” acquired during our adventure. As if her guns, knives, and virtually every part of her body aren’t already used as lethal weapons, she’s now added to her collection. I’m sure Hetty will be proud to add it to the Armory’s toy chest. What is that thing anyway? When I referred to it as a “ball and chain” that promoted the famous “crazy Kensi laugh”. (It had been too long since I heard that gloriously genuine, yet terrifying sound.) Almost immediately it was followed by a shy grin in understanding the term’s double meaning. Not sure if I’m the ball or the chain in this example, but I’m just glad to be linked to the ever-Bad Ass Blye.

We haven’t talked about why she was mad I took out that baddie aiming for her. Yet again, I get yelled at for either taking the shot or not taking the shot. There’s no winning with this woman – which is fine, as long as she remains alive. I’m confident she’ll thank me at some point; perhaps it’s just her ego getting in the way? Seems as though our communication woes continue.

I still know her just fine. After Kensi’s storytelling, we found her a snack (actually snacks plural) and about five minutes into Titanic on the iPad, she’s now fast asleep snort-snoring on my shoulder (making typing slightly challenging). Not sure what I’ll do if she goes into “starfish mode”. Can you say “awkward”?

I’m all for getting out of town for a bit, but this one was ridiculous. So glad to be on the way home – & to be on a military transport. Nearly 14 hours is bad enough; I can’t imagine what crazy combination of commercial flights and layovers this would take. And I can’t even try to figure out what time it is, or day for that matter. At least it’s shorter than that horrific trip home from Afghanistan – but more so that we’re all in one piece this time. Ugh. Why did I have to think about that?

Gotta put in a note about Nell. That little prodigy ran this mission with all of us in different places from a whole continent away. Why do I think that’s more natural talent than actual agent training? Speaking of agent, Callen’s gone all “lone wolf” in the back of the plane. Sam’s giving him space and we learned long ago to take the Big Guy’s lead when it comes to his partner. Forget the oil, this mission had a ton of family issues blended with Arkady. And Hetty. In Russia. Yet, it seems there might be more to it. He’ll read us in when the time is right, but with him that might be never.

Ready to get back to ‘Merica’s sun, surf, sand, and hopefully some alone time with my sweetie. Besides that I can’t begin to imagine what awaits us back in LA….

  5. Does anyone know where the 4-7 Skin Deep surf images now on leafoflegends and homegrownoregano Tumblr pages came from?… they were not in the final episode, there is no “deleted scene” option on the season 4 DVD, and that kiss predates Descent by quite a bit!
