What CBS is telling us:  “Unspoken” – The team searches for Sam’s former partner, Ruiz (Anthony Ruivivar), who disappears while buying a deadly explosive during an undercover operation, on NCIS: Los Angeles, Monday, Nov. 2

What we think is happening:  Sam’s past once again stuns the team as Sam’s first NCIS partner is involved in bombing.

Unofficial Surveillance:

Kensi and Deeks working a crime scene (with a steadicam):

Guest star Antony Ruivivar is promising explosions for this episode:

This episode was filmed the week the cast and producers were at PaleyFest so most of the photos taken that week were from the event and not the episode.

Video Surveillance:

Preview:

Stunning as always to see an explosion on this program.  Sam’s past gets a face – Mark Ruiz.

Sneak Peek #1:

Hmm, could that be a little Deeks IA woes foreshadowing with Deeks’s “People change Sam, especially when they’re in deep cover.”  A little something to file away.

Sneak Peek #2:

Perhaps the betrayal comment in the preview is about Ruiz’s addiction issues.

  1. It’s preview Sunday😄 Love this. I really enjoy the look bts and learning about the directors and guest actors. I’m enjoying the angst that Sam is going through. Sam is solid…loyal and always has his partner’s back as we’ve seen partnering G. I am looking forward to seeing how he disengaged from his former partner. Was it due to Ruiz. entering drug rehab or ?!? I can’t imagine Sam asking for a new partner and not trying to straighten out Ruiz… Sam’s angst over his former partner is getting me excited for Monday. I hope this is a theme that carries over to the Densi and other teams including Hetty and Granger. It would be nice to see this as a catalyst between for Deeks to open up to Kensi.
    Thanks, Tess😄

  2. Thanks for your preview. I hope this episode will lay the basis for the upcoming Deeks and Kensi “partners who lie” or “partners we don’t know so well as we thought” issue.

    • It certainly leaves open the idea that your partner isn’t always who you think they are.

I’d also like some info on the Sam timeline – when did he leave the SEALs, when did he work on a taskforce with Michelle, when did he join OSP.

  3. Great preview Tess. Do you know how many shooting days ECO missed on his Hawaiian vacation? Just trying to anticipate how much (or little) we’re going to see of him tomorrow night.

    • He was away for a few days but we’ve seen episodes where Chris O’Donnell has been at the AT&T Pro Am or LL Cool J was hosting the Grammys and they had some presence in the episode. They could shoot all of the Deeks scenes over a day or two and he could look like he had a real presence in the episode.

      • I had sort of assumed he might not be there at all, so I was happy to see he has at least a few scenes. I wonder if it was just a fluke of scheduling that gave him enough consecutive days off to go away, or if the episode is super-Sam heavy. It appears to be the latter, but you can never really tell from the promos.
