NCISLA Classified Preview: “Sirens” (S8E10)

Title:   “Sirens”

Airing:  November 27th

Filming:  October 21st to October 31st with Daniela Ruah’s scenes shot in early July.

What CBS is telling us:   After an unknown female assailant kills two men disguised as Sherriff’s deputies in front of Callen’s home, the NCIS team gets a new lead in the ongoing mole investigation. Also, Nell visits a prison to interview an inmate withholding information on the department’s leak, on NCIS: LOS ANGELES.

What we think is happening:  Nell talks to Carl about the mole, Natalie Grant appears, Deeks has an interesting ride and the episode includes the end of Daniela Ruah’s scenes shot in advance of her maternity leave.

Be on the lookout: GUEST CAST:

Pamela Reed as Roberta Deeks

Last seen smoking and catching a disapproving eye of the medical professionals tending to Kensi in “Ghost Gun”.

Laura Harring as Julia Feldman

Last seen getting coffee with Granger in “Black Market” (wonder if she told Kensi about that).

Adam Bartley as Carl Brown

Last seen sitting very close to Sam Hanna in “Ghost Gun”.

I think we know who Nell is interviewing in prison.

Lindsay LaVanchy as Natalie Grant / Amber Wilcox

Kurt Yaeger as Sullivan

Back from “Glasnost” last week.

 Chase Kim as Deputy Bennett

Played Det. James Ward in Rizzoli & Isles and appeared as an SRT Sniper in the ‘Bait” episodes of NCIS.  Was in episodes of Bosch, The Middle, Hawaii Five-0, Scorpion, Battle Creek, Revenge, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Silicon Valley, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Go On, Body of Proof, Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, The Newsroom, General Hospital, Ringer, Private Practice, Entourage, The Event, The Defenders, The Young & The Restless, Bones, CSI: Miami, Hawthorne, Life, Dollhouse, 24, Lie to Me, Monk, Leverage, Brothers & Sisters, Days of Our Lives, Women’s Murder Club, Moonlight, CSI: NY, Desperate Housewives, Standoff, Happy Hour, The OC, Gilmore Girls, Commander in Chief, Star Trek: Enterprise and The West Wing.

Was in an episode of Scandal and several episodes of the soaps Days of Our Lives and The Young & The Restless.

Gretchen Palmer as Heather / Rae

Masterminds:

Written by:  Erin Broadhurst who wrote or co-wrote “Praesidium”, “Unspoken” and “Come Back”.

Directed by:  Jonathan Frakes directed “LD50”, “Disorder”, “Blye, K.” part one, “Free Ride” and “Impact”.  Frakes also played Navy Commander Dr. Stanfill, Lance Talbot’s psychiatrist, in “Disorder” in season two.

Insider Intel:  TVLine has a video clip and short article about Kensi at home with both Julia and Roberta.

In a TVGuide.com article that is largely about the changes in Callen’s life after last week’s episode, Chris O’Donnell is asked about the mole storyline.  He describes it as a “multi-episode situation” with events the fans won’t see coming.  He also says that one mole storyline episode – probably airing next year – “may be one of the best scripts we’ve had.  It’s really clever.”

Sneak Peeks:

Deeks may be missing the couch in Kensi’s room.

Possible Sports Related Delays:  CBS has a full doubleheader this Sunday with much of the country getting the Carolina Panthers at Oakland Raiders game but some viewers (mostly in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic states, Ohio, Indiana and Florida) getting the New England Patriots at New York Jets.  I will update the start time if there is a delay (there is a planned 8:30PM ET/7:30PM CT start for this episode) in the comments section Sunday night.  The show’s Twitter feed (@NCISLA) and @CBSTweet will provide the updates.

We’re off until December 18th (gasp!) when the program will offer its annual holiday episode.  Next Sunday is last year’s holiday episode (“Cancel Christmas”) running an hour later than usual and the program is preempted on December 11th.

  1. Tess,
    Another fantastic job! Thank you.
I love all the details that you put into this, it is so fun to look through.

  2. I am so looking forward to this episode, the anticipation is just killing me.
I don’t know if it is that Kensi is home, if it because this is supposed to be the last episode of her hospital arc and we will find out about the mystery of Sullivan or the mole hunt coming to a head.
I am also hoping for a nice Densi moment to hold me over…hold me over…until, Awww man, really? I am not sure if it is just me not paying attention before, but isn’t this a really big break.
We get the episode on 11/27, then a 3 week gap until the Christmas episode on 12/18, which I am dying to see by the way ( I do want Kensi to give Deeks the box to open). Then, after the Christmas episode, we get another 3 week break until 1/8. That is a lot of time, like 6 weeks, with only 1 new show in the middle of it. Not sure if it is it due to the new time slot, the holidays falling on Sundays, or a combination of both, but that is a big gap. I realize they don’t want to run new episodes with so many viewers traveling and such and have the ratings take a hit. I get it, just don’t like it. Not sure how I will survive…fanfiction and here of course , that’s how. I hope all the wonderful writers get lots of inspiration from the upcoming show.
I really hope these next 2 episodes are big hitters.
    I need my fix.

  4. Thanks for your preview.
In this episode I’m especially looking forward to the scenes (I hope more than one) with the moms and the moment Deeks and Hetty are together in the car we saw in the first photograph you showed. I also hope we’ll get a nice scene between Deeks and Kensi, at home, without their moms around, just to see if they are still in a good place after the emotional rollercoaster of the past episodes.

    • I agree,
I would like to see a nice moment between Kensi and Deeks to confirm that in spite of Kensi not being fully recovered, they and their relationship made it through this as strong or stronger than ever.
Maybe an “ I love you “ from Kensi, maybe a hint about the ring…something deep and meaningful without any metaphors.
I also hope the moms have multiple scenes.

    • Thank you for the nice words!

I think they’ve done a really nice job with keeping Kensi and Deeks, well, Kensi and Deeks. They’ve been through something awful but they have each other as they have for the the last few years. After last Sunday’s jealous/handholding scene – they’re in a great place as she continues to recover. And his faith in her and what she can do was on full display. They were great.

  5. Thank you for putting all this together; especially on a holiday weekend; its very much appreciated! I don’t know what to think about this episode; I’m very curious about Sullivan; I believe this is his last episode. They never state they’ve uncovered the mole they just state they have a new lead — yawn! I am hoping however that its a great episode; because as Ed stated we have to wait a long time for new EPs; which I’m sure will be worth it. I sure hope so anyway.
Not to be negative Nelly here but doesn’t it strike anyone else strange that Eric never changes, never! He’s been the same since S1; doesn’t grow, change, nada, nothing; its just odd. Not that I care that much about that character I’m a team gal; love it when the real team (Callen, Sam, Deeks & Kensi) are out doing “what they do”!
I found a Gem of a quote from a fan; it was a great domestic picture of ECO & son; the fan wrote “the man that saved the show!” I found that to be very fitting and true actually! Cheers! :-)!

    • Thank you! These are always fun to do.

I would like Sullivan to appear at some point down the road – I think the actor was only used during the summer weeks when the program was shooting the Kensi storyline in advance. The program is very light in recurring characters – Arkaday, Anna, Talia, – it would be nice to have another familiar face around.

I respectfully disagree when it comes to Eric. Yes, he has been his silly self from time to time but starting with firing the drone in the season premiere even though he never thought he’d be responsible for someone’s death, for the way he supported Kensi and what she meant to the team to Granger and for the way he was encouraging to Deeks in the parking lot – Eric has risen to the occasion time after time this season. Yes, they have him doing goofy things but that’s how he keeps the rough stuff they do a little at bay. Eric has been Kensi’s champion all season long.

      • Thank you Tess for being so civil and polite; I appreciate that. This season yes, he has been a bit better, but honestly 8 seasons in he’s still the same; I honestly don’t see any change in him. He’s always supported the team though, you are correct. That’s what is so great about this site we can discuss and share our thoughts without being rude; we all see the world differently, our life experiences, etc. I do like the combination of Nell and Eric in Ops.
Again, thank you for all the hard work that goes into putting all this information in one place for us fans!! Its much appreciated!

I respect everyone’s opinion, both those that agree with me…

Oh come on, its a little bit funny..
            obviously kidding.
I really enjoy the discussion, you guys make me think

  6. Hi Tess! Thanks for this preview. As always I appreciate all the nuggets of information you put together for us.

On the topic of your writing, can we expect any new fanfics from you? I always look forward to your stories as you portray a strong, capable Deeks that I love so much.

  7. One last thought; I’m hoping Sullivan comes back; however, I’m a bit concerned that he could be a bad guy. Why the name Sullivan of all the names; that is so suspicious to me. I would love to have Kurt on the show every now and again. I guess I along with many others will just have to wait and see.
If he doesn’t come back; its been great having him on the show. His own life journey is amazing! A very cool guy.
Here’s to hoping we get a great episode tomorrow night! Cheers!

  9. I think one of the reasons that I want Kensi home and recovering it that although the recovery arc has been chocked full of emotion and heart wrenching scenes and some bonding moments, I would like to see Kensi happy. My selfish reason is that a happy Kensi smiles, and that although I have no statistical proof, there is a very real probability that Daniela Ruah may have the most beautiful smile on TV.
although we have had a couple of glimpses,I really miss it, especially when it is directed at Deeks.
Not looking at plot or character development…just being selfish a little, more smiles please…
