NCISLA Classified Preview: “Battle Scars” (S8E21)

Title:   “Battle Scars”
Airing:  April 23rd

What CBS is telling us:   After a highly-decorated Navy Captain, Charles Langston (Carl Lumbly), kidnaps a Veterans Affairs administrator who has been siphoning funds, the NCIS team must work with Hetty’s former Vietnam War colleagues, now-retired Admiral AJ Chegwidden (John M. 4. Thanks for all the instagrams/tweets I missed seeing. Malibu really is beautiful. I really wish TPTB would realize that they need to include most of the team in the sneak peeks, especially now that they are giving us generic promos.

    • Thanks for the nice words! With most of the guest stars in the press release and the director not active on social media, I was really short on photos this week.

I wonder if they realized including Elizabeth Bogush in the press “Payback” press release, in the photos about the episode and some of the promos blew the surprise of finding Joelle tied to the wheelchair in the church far less of a surprise. Same with her being the mole – why was she in the episode if she wasn’t the mole?

With what is rumored to be coming – I think they’re playing the final few episodes close to the vest. More surprises for us, I suppose.

      Thanks again!

  5. IF in this episode there is the BIG Densi scene every Densi fan has been waiting for more or less all season, hopefully in one of the next four episodes (trusting DR’s words “You’ll get a proper proposal by the time the season finale rolls around”), I’m glad they didn’t spoil it in the (generic) preview or in the only sneak peek they showed.
If the proposal isn’t in this episode, I only hope, when it arrives, it will be given the time and importance Deeks and Kensi and their step deserve, without interruptions, misunderstandings, second thoughts or, even worse, forced humor. I don’t care if it isn’t this week as long as it is a memorable Densi scene and not a moment with a bittersweet taste we have gotten used so much to this season.

Many thanks for your preview, I honestly remembered very little about the time they filmed this episode, let’s hope it’s a good sign TPTB didn’t share much on purpose!

    • I agree, I would like a good honest emotional proposal…followed by a yes and some hugging action.
no interruptions, no Eric or Nell calling on the phone, no IA knocking at the door…
I would think that doing it right would mean that it should happen in the next 2 episodes or possibly at the beginning of 8/23. before the next big threat comes up.
really, this deserves to be the big moment in the episode…haven’t they earned it?

things that would not be ok…
      silliy joking clowning around
somebody getting cold feet and backing out
Deeks getting arrested by IA immediately afterward
having the Sam issue overshadow something we have waited on for 7 years.
Deeks not telling Kensi about his confession to Whiting and refusing to move forward with the relationship until it resolved.
Kensi saying no.., or her asking Deeks and him saying no…after all, we were promised a proposal…not an engagement…weren’t we…
… a minor detail and minor detail in the comments…but accurate none the less.
would TPTB dare pull something like that on the fans?

it might even drive me to complain.

I really do want them to have an honest discussion before they agree to get married.
Deeks childhood, just what bad things Kensi did while living on the street, and Deeks telling Kensi about Whiting,.
I do not want to see Kensi say yes and then find out that Deeks is lying to her, or at least keeping things hidden…NO MORE SECRETS…right?

      • I totally agree with you ed, and like you my whole family and I are all densi all the way, I got blocked in the spoilertv forum for speaking my mind to someone who doesn’t like kensi or deeks and just keeps bad mouthing them saying things like they can’t act and kensi and s**t like that, sorry, its been long enough lets have the proper proposal that we all deserve.
by the way ed we love all your posts, thak you and keep it up

      • And no engagement without at least an apology for the punch, preferably actual consequences. That should tie in to the discussion of Deeks’ childhood.

        Like

        • having Deeks talk about his childhood and the things that formed who he is would be good to see.
I would like for him to talk about how everyone he counted on in his life has hurt him or let him down in some way. from his dad’s abuse, to his mom’s inability to protect him. his best friend Ray becoming a criminal, Hetty allowing for him to think Afghanistan was his fault, Kensi’s punch, Hetty leaking info to IA about his case, saving Sam and his wife then Sam saying words of support that he failed to back up for years to follow like nothing changed.
the poor guy has had a rough time.
here is the point where Kensi apologizes, expresses her love and devotion, and promises to do everything in her power to never hurt or disappoint him again for the rest of their lives together…

    • Thanks for the nice words! The director, one of the writers and all three named guest stars are not big Twitter or Instagram users so we’re light on tweets or photos about the episode.

I’m not concerned about any “big” Densi scene. Season eight has been a really solid season. They’re doing it right – I’m trusting them for the last four episodes.

  9. LOVED the perkiest non-helpful person in the history of law enforcement. I would love to see her in every instance of a non-helpful law enforcement person in season 9 as a running joke.

    • She was terrific. I’m not sure who the actress is but that is taking a part that is largely a plot-point – the FBI once again is not helping NCIS – and making it your own!

      Like

      • she was every bit as non-helpful as officer Chan behind the desk at the police station that both Kensi and Deeks had to deal with in “Hot Water”
she was just as good at not helping, but was far friendlier about it.
Seldom has someone said go away tough luck quite so nicely…
        a very good job.
