wikiDeeks Supports Every Day Action

Every Day Action

wikiDeeks, in partnership with @ericchristianolsenfans on Instagram, is proud to support a great charity with NCIS: Los Angeles ties called Every Day Action, which reallocates unused food from movie and television sets, restaurants, grocery stores and others and provides it to food pantries and to support the vast numbers of people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

According to a study conducted in January of 2020 by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, over 66,000 people in Los Angeles County were experiencing homelessness, 41,000 within the city of Los Angeles alone. And that was before the economic and health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic raised the numbers even higher.

The organization was founded by two assistant directors working for NCIS: Los Angeles. They’ve received support from many members of the cast and crew including Eric Christian Olsen, Daniela Ruah, and Renée Felice Smith. Barrett Foa is a regular volunteer and Vice President of the Board of Directors.

Beyond the act of supplying food, Every Day Action is about inspiring others to take action in their own communities, to do something small every day to help others. As they put it:

Our mission is to inspire others to take care of their local community and to ask themselves daily: What can I do to help someone today? How can I be the reason someone feels seen, heard, valued, loved and supported? Our hope is to bridge the gap between the upper middle class and the millions of Americans in need, while inspiring our friends and neighbors to do the same and better. We firmly believe that having less doesn’t make you less and having more doesn’t make you more; we are all equal and should take care of our world and each other.

You can find out more about the charity on their website, www.youreverydayaction.org. You can also follow them on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. Here’s a great video about their work from the founders’ appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show:

And here’s one from a local L.A. morning news show:

You Can Help

Help us support Every Day Action. Spread the word on social media. On-line shop at AmazonSmile– exactly the same as Amazon but the company gives a small percentage of your payment to the charity of your choice. Send them needed supplies. Work with their collaborating organization Crafting Change to make masks, personal care kit bags and backpacks out of materials that would otherwise be discarded. Better yet, if you live in Los Angeles, donate some time to help deliver food to those in need.

Better yet, give a U.S. tax deductible donation of any size. Even $10 can make a difference! Your generosity will help Every Day Action to employ staff and provision them and their volunteers with the safety and other equipment needed to address the unique challenges currently presented by COVID-19 and to ensure proper food safety meals are delivered.

Thank You for All Your Help!

Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who has helped, whether it’s by a financial or supply contribution, targeted on-line shopping, volunteering, or just by spreading the word.  Together we can make a difference.
