I think the story he told that kid about never living more than two miles from where he grew up was a lie, and I think having an Aunt Barbara is too…if she was real…wouldn’t she be his next of kin?

I’m tempted to agree with you on the first thing. He lives in an apartment near the beach. If he grew up in Reseda (he did go to Reseda high, so that’s what I’m assuming), it’s not all that close to the beach. So there’s no way he’s always lived 2 miles from the house he grew up in, unless of course, he didn’t grow up in Reseda. As far as the next of kin, it can be anyone you want. Maybe he’s not close with that Aunt. Doesn’t mean he was lying about it.

The Gordon John Brandel vetted by Hetty in the episode where Deeks was shot could not possibly be Deeks’ father because the date of birth for that Gordon John Brandel was 1969 (as shown on the paper file opened by Hetty) which would have made him ten years old at the time of Deeks noted birthdate in 1979.

Good point Joe! I think many people have attributed that age difference to sloppy work on the set design, but who knows? I have always hoped it was a mistake of some kind because I’d love to see Deeks’ dad show up one day and freak everyone out.

Does any one know what the ‘A’ is for in Martin A. Deeks? I personally think it should either be Classical eg ‘Apollo’ (I recall Kensi once referred to this as his exotic dancer name) or, given Roberta Deeks was a hippie, what about ‘Allen’ Ginsberg whose writings inspired the flower power political movement?
