Producers “want it to be worth the wait”

Are wedding bells going to ring for Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) on NCIS: Los Angeles? The short answer: Not so fast.

Deeks floated the idea of an engagement in the March 19 episode (in which he and Kensi also had The Talk about whether they want to have children), and the original plan was to have a proposal in Season 7. But now executive producer Scott Gemmill tells TVGuide.com that, while there is a plan in place for Deeks to get down on one knee, it probably won’t come until Season 8.

  1. I was hoping for a proposal this season! Well at least we know it will happen. I cant wait!!

  2. I’m just glad to hear that they are planning something and the viewers will see it. With all the discussion of babies, marriage, and weddings, I was getting very concerned that we were going to start season 8 with Deeks and Kensi married with a kid on the way all happening “off screen” during the hiatus. That would be a disservice to the fans of this show. This article gives me hope that they are planning and managing the on screen relationship as well as the actress’ pregnancy a lot better this time around.

  3. My take on the “The Talk” was that it suggested the writers have decided not to have Kensi mirror Daniela’s pregnancy, possibly because it mostly falls in the hiatus. Of course that’s without the benefit of having seen Season 7…or indeed 6 come to that…so what do I know?!

  4. Would love to see it NOW, but also glad they are taking their time to do it right (I hope). Hope it is fun and quirky and perfectly “them”! Can’t wait!!

  5. I would like them to do it right as well. I think it is prepping the Fandom so we are not up in arms all summer. I fear it might mean a separation at the end of the finale that carries into the fall. As much as I want them to have a baby it just doesn’t seem to be the right time. Maybe it will tie into a Deeks, M episode.

  6. I had many concerns this year, at the beginning of the season, about how the authors would be going to handle Densi, their story, their scenes and dialogues.
After having seen almost all the episodes, now I can say I was very glad and a little bit surprised about how well the Densi relationship was included and blended in Season 7. Apart from some very few exceptions of less than stellar episodes, their story has been written as adult and evolving, with some bumps in the road (the IA investigation and Jack coming back among the biggest) that could be overcome with determination, will and obviously a very strong love.
This said, if their story keeps on being so realistic and mature, I don’t mind to wait a little for some milestone events of their lives together, like a proposal, an engagement, a wedding and a baby (possibly in this order), as long as we are allowed to see these moments on screen. Please, writers?
