NCISLA Classified Preview: “Black Market” (S8E04)
Title: “Black Market”
Airing: October 16th
Filming: August 19th to August 29th with all of Daniela Ruah’s scenes shot in early July.

What CBS is telling us: After a Homeland Security agent is poisoned by a notorious Triad assassin, NCIS uncovers a warehouse of counterfeit purses and a money trail to stolen government funds. Also, Nell joins the team in the field, on NCIS: Los Angeles.
What we think is happening: With Nell working with Deeks, the Triad – one of the crime organizations mentioned in season seven’s “Head of the Snake” – becomes the latest target of the OSP.
Be on the lookout: GUEST CAST:
Laura Harring as Julia Feldman
Harring returns from “The Queen’s Gambit”. Not sure how many times Harring will appear but there were a lot of photos shot during the days where the program pre-recorded all of Kensi’s scenes to accommodate Daniela Ruah’s maternity leave so here’s a photo of the lovely TV mother and daughter:
Byron Mann as Zhang Kiu
Of course the episode after “The Queen’s Gambit” would include Yao Fei from Arrow. Along with Arrow, Mann recurred on Rush Hour as Fong, Hell on Wheels as Chang and Dark Angel as Det. Matt Sung.
He appeared in episodes of CSI: Cyber, Hawaii Five-0, Nikita, Burn Notice, Durham County, The Unit, Smallville, Martial Law, UC: Undercover, Murder She Wrote, The Sentinel, Time Trax and Murphy Brown.
Daniel Marin as Carlos Gutierrez
Was Officer Tillman on General Hospital and had guest role on Trophy Wife.
Catherine Carlen as Diane
Appeared in this summer’s Greenleaf as well as episodes of Recovery Road, Weird Loners, How to Get Away with Murder, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mindy Project, 90210 (2012), Desperate Housewives, Married With Children and Night Court.
Gita Reddy as Charge Nurse
Played Neepa on The Mindy Project and had guest roles on Rizzoli & Isles, Battle Creek, Chasing Life, Mike & Molly, Betas, Hot in Cleveland, Criminal Minds, Ben & Kate, Revenge, Law & Order and was Amita’s mother Tapti on Numb3rs.
Rickey Eugene Brown as Jesse Evans
Appeared in episodes of The Real O’Neals, Rosewood, Faking It, Awkward, The Mindy Project and Sons of Anarchy.
Desmond Chiam as Edward Lee
Guest roles on Bones, Offspring, Better Man and Neighbors.
Daniel Blake as Male Nurse
Blake appeared in a number of short films. He doesn’t shoot the most helpful “I’m chillin’ in my trailer on the set” photos when it comes to featuring his face:
Denell Johnson as Barista
Was in episodes of Young & Hungry, Dr. Ken, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, About a Boy, Murder in the First, The Middle, You’re the Worst and The Millers.

Sneak Peek:
Possible Sports Related Delays:
CBS has one regional late game – Kansas City at Oakland. The good people at the 506sports.com maps have the game possibly causing delays in Buffalo, Philly, Charlotte, Detroit, Flint, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Des Moines, most of the states of Kansas, Missouri and South Dakota. The show’s Twitter feed and @CBSTweet will provide and update and I’ll put it in the comments Sunday evening.

Thanks once again for putting this altogether. I really am not a JLJ fan and combined with the two sneak peeks , I was not looking forward to this episode. However, I had completely forgotten about the scenes of ECO and Renee in the car, so you have restored my hope for this one, so I am grateful to you. I do not know how you keep this all straight, but it certainly helps us fans.

Thanks for the nice words.
I find JLJ’s episodes wildly uneven. In season five, within a handful of episodes, she wrote the terrible “Big Brother” and the pretty darn good “Iron Curtain Rising”. I really liked “Beacon” and really disliked “Patriot Acts”. Odd mix. She has done a good job in the past with organized crime ideas so I’m hoping this is one of those episodes.

I remembered the scenes of ECO and Renée in the car but honestly I didn’t remember they belonged to this episode. Now I’m looking forward to it a little more than before, because unfortunately the sneak peeks have left me quite indifferent. I am also glad Kensi’s mom is back again after last episode. In the end I do hope we will get some crucial Densi scenes because I want to believe that this is the episode Kensi wakes up. I don’t know if I could go on another week otherwise.
Thanks for your preview, as always, a great help to have everything together before an episode.

Thanks for the kind comment.
I think we’re going to have a very limited amount of Kensi in this episode – her pre-recorded scenes really need to last until about episode 11. I really like what they did two Sunday’s ago – where Kensi was just in two powerful scenes but her absence and her condition had an impact on all the characters.

Thank you for putting all of the previews together. I look forward to them. It would be okay if not a lot of Kensi if we had more interaction between Julia and Deeks.

I am interested in seeing what Julia knows about Kensi’s career. If she understands the danger Kensi is often in. I still wonder if Julia knew Kensi was in Afghanistan for a few months. Kensi could have told Julia she was working out of the country but not someplace like Afghanistan.
Thanks for the feedback!
