What a Day! Kensi’s Journal (12/13/20)

12/13/20

What a rollercoaster of a day!  It started with Deeks breaking the news that we can’t afford the house now that he’s out of work indefinitely.  Then Beale returned (The hair!  Those glasses!  That MUSTACHE!!!) and announced he’s a billionaire—awesome news to hear from a friend who Deeks has loaned money to in the past.  Until Deeks found out that Beale had already invested it in ending homelessness (I’m sure he must still have some money to spare, but I couldn’t begrudge Deeks not asking after hearing about Beale’s selflessplans).  Then Deeks told me that he wanted to sell the bar so we could have our house and a family, which simultaneously broke and warmed my heart.  And to top it all off, we found out that Deeks is going to FLETC!  Who needs a Christmas miracle when you have Hetty Lange in your corner?  I think this is the happiest I’ve been since our wedding day. 😊

I’m also feeling a huge sense of relief.  Deeks was so down about everything that it was starting to worry me.  I’m not used to seeing him like that and am even less used to not being able to help him when he’s upset.  It was incredible to see that sparkle back in his eyes when we got the good news.  Hopefully this means the Squid & Dagger will get a reprieve too, at least until we have a better idea of our financial situation.  Deeks’ vision for the bar was so right, and I love how it’s become a place to spend time with our family and friends.  Speaking of, I wonder if there’s something we can do to help with Beale’s new venture.  Despite our current money woes, the boys are right—we ARE the lucky ones, and we should pay it forward when we can.

Now that we’ve had some “us” time to celebrate Deeks’ good news, that roller coaster started to descend a little again when I remembered that the Special Agent Basic Training Program is 46 days long, and across the country in Georgia. I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but I wonder if Deeks has to do the entire training?  He’s certainly taken plenty of courses since he’s been with NCIS—can he get “credit” for them to shorten how long he’ll be away?  If not, looks like I’ll be taking a couple of weekend trips out east in the next few months.

About Psyched (94 Articles)
Turns out I've been writing fan fiction since before it was a "thing" on the internet (okay, even before there was an internet). I spent many a boring junior high history class coming up with more exciting stories for my favorite soap opera characters. I continue to enjoy the creative outlet it provides in my still-boring but now adult life.

  1. Nicely done, we have seen several fan fictions in the past about Deeks attending basic training in Georgia, maybe we will see another now that it is really happening.
