Wow. These NCIS agents keep getting younger and younger! Guess this is karma for calling Callen and Sam the “old folks” awhile back. Speaking of odd turns of fate, a moment of deja vu also struck. The Beale-meister declaring the pint-sized prodigy wasn’t “his type”? (Honestly was he referring to Blaze or Nell?) And Nell, I gotta give it to the girl. She’s got her feelings for Eric locked up tighter than Hetty’s redacted personnel files on all of us. Looks like Velma’s EQ is right up there with her IQ. Watch out Nate, Uncle Marty might be infringing on your psych role on the team!
Oh man. Is this what the rest of the team has had to put up with between Kensi and me all these years? I’ve had my own dealings with the “type” argument, but luckily those days are solidly locked in the history books. It’s tough to believe the topic of Valentine’s Day popped up; Kensi shot me one of our secret looks; and the guys didn’t even balk. Again, looks like balancing this work and outside fun times wasn’t such a big deal after all. Fern even used “touché” correctly; if that’s not progress I don’t know what is!
This case certainly took some interesting twists. It’s one of the first times that I’m now glad to no longer be in the college scene. (Ugh. I’m feeling old!) But riddle me this: why do these tough chicks always go for the groin kick?! At least the criminals won’t be reproducing anytime soon.
So maybe working side-by-side with Ladybird Blye still needs some fine-tuning. We actually haven’t done many overt covers together and today was pretty much a complete mess. You can take the agent out of the agency, but you apparently can’t take that agency training out of the agent. What I’m trying to say here is my being “method” and Kens playing it by the book is pretty incompatible. Even I couldn’t tell when the thinly formed cover dissolved into… well, us. This is just another reminder of the additional “risk” of our “thing” – especially now that I can eerily feel IA still lurking in the shadows….

Right?! It was tough to believe such a huge bomb was falling on Deeks last week and not even a peep this week. Just another reminder about how this show is committed to the “slow burn”.

I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that there was zero mention of the IA investigation this week. I needed like a 5 second conversation between anyone, really! Hetty checking in with Kensi and Deeks asking if they’re still being followed, Sam offering their support (assuming they’ve been read in – maybe they haven’t), Granger and Hetty talking about it. SOMETHING. ARGH.
That said, this is a great entry, Gayle! I hope you had a great time on your set visit!!
