NCISLA Classified Preview: “Getaway” (S8E18)

Title:   “Getaway”
Airing:   March 19th – the third of four consecutive episodes.
Filming:  February 1st to February 9th
What CBS is telling us:  After the U.S. Treasury Department is hacked, Nell and Eric go undercover inside a couple’s retreat to track a tech-savvy husband and wife linked to the crime. Also, Digital Forensics Specialist Dave Flynn (Scott Grimes) arrives from the NCIS cyber office in San Diego to run ops while Eric and Nell are on assignment, on NCIS: LOS ANGELES. Bar Paly returns as Anna Kolcheck.
What we think is happening:  It was my hope that when Kensi returned to the field that we wouldn’t see Eric and Nell exclusively in Ops.  Nice to see the program agrees.

Be on the lookout: GUEST CAST:

Welcome back Dave.

They are the cutest.

Possible Sports Related Delays:  There will be delays for the next three episodes.  Sunday the 19th and Sunday the 26th of March will have NCAA Men’s Basketball delays while the April 9th will be delayed because of the Master Golf Tournament.  When CBS posts the adjusted ETZ/CTZ start times, I’ll put them in the comments.

  1. Thanks once again for putting this together . I loved sneak peek one in ops with a nice team banter. I also like the CBS preview, which says “Getaway”, but is a compilation; it had great action Deeks in it. I am looking forward to seeing Scott Grimes back, absolutely not looking forward to seeing Bar Paley again, so tired of Anna and that smirk!!!!.

    • Thanks for the nice words.

CBS looks like they put together generic promos for all of their big dramas this week to be run during the basketball games. Makes sense – instead of showing what a single episode looks like, show more of a “greatest hits” collection.

The program really needs to do things like bringing back Dave or any of the other officers/agents the team worked with in the past. The mothership does a much better job with that. It helps having familiar faces when a member of the regular cast needs a few days off.

      Thanks again!

  5. Thank you for all the work take goes into putting this together for us fans; its greatly appreciated!
Since Barrett said Neric fans are in for a real treat my expectations aren’t that high; personally I don’t like the Geeks in the field and I’m not a Neric fan either. Especially Eric he is such a Man Boy; it gets on my nerves. However its great that Scott Grimes is back, I really like him. One clip we see is what I’m referring to; instead of just saying “copy that” concerning the coms; he acts like a little child; like “I knew that” Ugh! When are they going to have him grow up!
Yep and Anna is in this EP also — Ugh.
My hope with Densi in over watch we may get some really good scenes; I’m going to be hopeful but guarded; my hopes have been smashed so many times this season; I’ve lost count.
Again, thank you very much for this site!

    • I completely agree.
geeks in the field, Neric and Anna

…three strikes and you are out…
not a promising way to start things off.

So, I will hold o to the fact that a long overnight remote overwatch assignment in a motor home with Kensi and Deeks may provide an opportunity to talk about their past, what is going on now, and their future.
…and maybe a nice kiss or snuggle to celebrate…

it is all the hope I have…

    • Thank you! Glad you like the preview.

I think this season has been a great Eric season. He’s been forced to “step-up” – fire the drone, fire his weapon in the field – and has done so even with real reservations. He was Kensi’s biggest champion in the office, was the calming influence to a very worried Nell when Kensi was abducted by Ferris. It has been a solid Eric season.

Looking forward to watching Kensi and Deeks take the Nell and Eric roles and vice versa with one team in the field and the other watching on computer screens.

      Like

      • I’m not trying to start an argument but honestly I don’t see where Eric has changed at all. Firing the drone was an order; his hesitation could have cost the team their lives. The alternate boat shed scene jumping around afraid of the water? Really. Meeting AJ with a gun, man that made me nervous; who gave him a gun? AJ requests an update Eric gives him a tour of all his toys when Kensi is in peril — really. He is such a Man Boy! Perhaps this is the EP where he grows up; or perhaps they try to make him funny and he’s not, in my opinion. And, then my final grip; after many financial investments (8) with Eric, Deeks finally cuts him off and Eric of course acts (well I was going to say little girl but that’s not nice to the girls) childish then makes fun of Deeks; really after all he’s done for you Eric? Not cool.
So there’s a few of my Eric grips; again seeing a real professional in Ops (Scott Grimes) really warms my heart; looking forward to seeing him again.

        • I’m fairly certain I spelled gripe incorrectly, sorry — my bad!

          Like

        • agreed,
I can not stand Eric in the field. it is not about being cute or funny, it is about acting like you have some ability to actually be out there.
I think back to the way Sam and Callen treated Deeks about being professional or serious.

not only doe Eric act like a buffoon, he is dangerous,
there is absolutely no way his behavior would be tolerated,.

when he was talking about grenades and his new nickname while Kensi was getting ready to go after the guys, I screamed at the tv, had to stop and take a breath, and, for a brief moment, I wanted to drive to LA and slap someone for being so stupid…actually several of them…the actor for acting that way, the writer for writing that junk, and Scott for thinking it was a good idea and signing off on that crap.

  6. One last thought; yes Bar we see the picture you took of yourself — nice (NOT) anyway; I’m curious as to why Jolle is back; now that should be really interesting. Actually anyone or anything that takes camera time away from Bar is a really good thing; just my opinion.
Honestly I try not to be a negative person, but this show has pushed too many of my buttons this season and I’m not liking it much. Usually my DVR library is full of the current season; this season my DVR has none :-(.
However; there is always Hope!! 🙂

I would rather watch Monty clean himself for 5 minutes that watch Anna in the show…
obviously, things can be found through “on demand”…but I have 64 episodes of NCIS LA saved on my DVR currently…
absolutely none of which are from season 8…not sure what that says, but it has to mean something…

      • I think this season had many single stand-alone scenes (and some arcs) that worked well and were well-written and well-acted, but no memorable episode as a whole (so far). While I appreciated a lot Kensi arc at the beginning of the season and the way her story was intertwined with the rest of the plots, I honestly expected more from the episodes just after Kensi’s recovery. Then there was the mole hunt and the three-parter was quite good, especially the fast-paced Payback. I do hope the rest of the episodes will have some beautiful surprises and – can I say it? – more Densi, because I’ve missed them so much this season.

  7. Thanks for your accurate preview, my “must read” before the episode, every week.

I’ve never been a Neric fan, but this episode seems intriguing anyway and I’m looking forward to it (minus Anna scenes, to be honest). I do hope the writer this time will kind of “reconcile” with the Densi fans after the enormous letdown (for me at least) of “Sirens” (probably my least favorite episode this season, together with Kulinda) giving us a beautiful Densi scene like she did at the end of “Come back”.
I’m also really looking forward to seeing what part Joelle has in this episode (let’s cross our fingers we won’t have another “catfight” the NCIS LA authors seem to be so fond of!).

    Like

    • Thank you! These are fun to do.

I think anytime you have Kensi and Deeks in a RV, it is probably going to be fun.

While I don’t see a catfight coming, I do wonder what Joelle, now Beth, has left to share with the team. She’s one of the few still alive from this planned attack on the team. If she’s under arrest, and I’m assuming she is, what could she share with Callen and Sam? We’ll find out tonight.

  8. with all the waiting that has happened, I would expect any advancement in the Densi relationship to be kept as a surprise.
I would not expect it to be spoiled with a promo or sneak peek, at least I would hope not anyway.
with that in mind, I look for opportunities for something to happen.
An overnight assignment alone in a motor home is one such chance.
…767 with most of the team away on a jet could be another.
    keeping hope alive.

    • At this point Ed I don’t expect anything; that way I won’t get disappointed and perhaps be surprised. Wouldn’t that be a nice change! I did love the little Densi scene in the Van last EP; very sweet. So I keep my expectations very low every time I watch. I just keep hoping its going to get better because I do love this show; not sure where they’re going with it. I think adding AJ is a great idea; I really like him! Go away Bar! Ugh! Who thought having her hook up with Callen was a good idea. Or perhaps the character Anna is a great idea; just very bad casting.

      Like

      • I think that having Callen get involved with Arkady’s daughter was a stroke of brilliance. There was a potential gold mine of both comedy and angst in having Arkady as Callen’s potential father in law. But then they blew it with the ham-handed way they introduced the character, and especially with the casting. Even if they could overcome the way Anna was forced on us in her initial episodes, they can’t overcome the casting disaster that is Bar Paly. And it’s a real shame, because they’ll never have another chance to get it right.

But at least when Callen and Anna are exchanging spit, we don’t have to hear BP’s voice. So, there’s that.

        Like

        • very well said. I agree completely.
instead of completely ruining the x mas episode wit Anna, especially when dani was back to film the episode, they could have tried something different.
with Kensi still in the hospital, they could have uses an earlier episode.

Although I dislike Anna … can you imagine the comedy if Anna had of invited Callen over to Arkady’s house for Thanksgiving diner…

we missed lots of Densi for over 1/2 the season, then when she gets out there are more issues…now we get Callen/ Anna getting all the romance and Nell/ Eric getting field time…
I hope for a drastic change very soon as I am loosing interest.

maybe Sabatino or Joelle, who both claim to not be directly involved, will reveal that Anna is also part of the plot…

          good grief , I hope so…
