Deeks’ Surf Log – 5/5/19

Good news: We didn’t have to sneak into Russia. Bad news: We did have to sneak into Cuba. At least is was a far shorter flight and far better weather.

Under the theme of when in Rome (or in this case Havana), our vehicle was certainly different than the norm. This place really is stuck in a time warp. Of course Kensi needed to choose our car. It was easy for me to keep silent (this time) just watching the excited glee she had in selecting our ‘57 Chevy. Shockingly my lady love let me drive it first (as long as she got to drive it at some point). That was one sweet ride!

This wasn’t really our op to run anyway. Nah, that was really up to Joelle and Anna. I’m not exactly sure we accomplished all we needed to, so that remains to be seen. Yet, in the sad norm of our lives, an unexpected happy reunion soon turned tragic. Callen found his dad – again – only to endure the ultimate loss. It’s another depressing reminder of how important this team is to each of us, as too often it feels like it’s all we have. If this is the small family we’re all connected to, it’s definitely a good one. We may be small, but we are fierce.
