It’s an Eagles’ Life! Kensi’s Journal 04/19/2020
4/19/20
It’s taking all of my willpower not to be a Witchy Woman and wake Deeks up right now, but he’s Already Gone to bed. Seeing as how it’s after 1 AM, I can’t blame him, but tomorrow (technically later today) I am going to have to tell him all about tonight. And what a night it was—the concert was amazing and I got to meet THE EAGLES!!!!—the only thing missing was Deeks. He’d have a Heartache Tonight if I woke him to brag about it. Maybe I should tell him it wasn’t that great, that it was nothing more memorable than any other night In the City; just some Wasted Time with Fatima. Who am I kidding, Deeks would see right through my Lyin’ Eyes. Guess that’s what happens when I’m a Victim of Love—can’t keep a secret from the man who gets the Best of My Love. Unfortunately I’m not sure I’m going to sleep anytime soon, I’m still so revved (and more than a little tipsy). Maybe I’ll pull an all-nighter and watch the lovely Tequila Sunrise then wake Deeks up early so we can surf for a bit. Being out on the waves always gives him such a Peaceful Easy Feeling, and he really needs to take advantage of that now, before the Boys of Summer return to filch his favorite surf spots.
I hope Deeks can get over that one bad review and Try and Love Again; he really needs to Take it Easy. My beloved hubby is in the wrong business if he can’t take a little criticism. The Squid & Dagger is still the New Kid in Town and Deeks needs to develop a thicker skin if we’re going to succeed in the bar and restaurant business. Life’s Been Good to us so far; I’m sure that the S & D will be wall-to-wall customers One of These Nights(smelling like something that would no doubt be called Funk #49), despite some douche who doesn’t have an appreciation for what we’re trying to do there. In the Long Run, it’ll all work out, I’m sure. Deeks will Take it to the Limit and get the bar so packed that there will always be a long line of Pretty Maids All in a Row waiting for the ladies’ room.
And if not, we can always Walk Away from the S & D (and NCIS) and consider moving to Bali again. Leave our Life in the Fast Lane, work at The Last Resort on the beach for practically nothing but Those Shoes on our feet. Then there’s always Mexico, where Deeks could be a concierge at the Hotel California. Or Maybe we can head for the east coast and drive the Seven Bridges Road (though it’s nothing compared to the PCH, I know). We can stop en route and try living the Rocky Mountain Way for a while. Life on the Run, as a Desperado and desperada had a certain appeal when Deeks suggested it a few years ago too. Who needs money when our Love Will Keep Us Alive?
I Can’t Tell You Why I felt compelled to use the titles of all 30 songs the Eagles sang tonight in this entry—okay maybe it was too many beers at the concert—but I did it! Deeks and the Wonder Twins would be so proud of me if I ever told them about this huge detour into geeky fangirling. And now that it’s past two in the morning and the giddy buzz is wearing off, I think I’ll go snuggle with my man until I fall asleep.
Headcanon: Kensi inherited her love for the Eagles from her Dad

I totally agree, Ryan. And will add my own related headcanon that they used to listen to Don’s Eagles tapes while driving to wherever they hiked/camped out. When Don bought a new car Kensi replaced all his Eagles tapes with CDs. Thanks for your comment!

This is really cute! (hey, I DID say I’d comment on a new journal post if there was on this week!)

This was awesome! I don’t actually know any song by tge Eagles except Hotel California, but I’m absolutely goibg to listen to the songs mentioned in this journal entry. Loved the idea very much. It shows Kensi’s excited and pretty much drunken state.I’m glad she’s had such a good time with Fatima.

Thanks so much for the compliment, xtinochla! You should definitely listen to more Eagles! The songs Kensi included in her journal actually were the 30 songs that made up the playlist of their latest concert tour (it was a 3+ hour long show, from what I read). Pre-pandemic, they were actually scheduled to play in LA the week of this ep. They performed the entire Hotel California album (and then some), so that’s a good place to start. Oh, and some aren’t actually Eagles songs (but I think most of those were from the band-members’ solo albums). Happy listening!

Enjoyed this journal entry a lot. You fixed something that did not work for me in the episode. Well done!

Love the Eagles! Saw them in concert about 6 1/2 years ago and it was awesome. Great job on her journal entry and managing to fit all those song titles in the post!

Thanks so much, Mandy. I figured Kensi was tipsy enough that the silliness of some of the sentences would work.
The Eagles are one of the only groups/performers I want to see in concert but haven’t. This tour was actually near me already but I didn’t realize it (until I looked up the set-list for the this entry).:-(
