We Can Do This! Deeks’ Surf Log 4/24/22

What a frustrating day. The case of the missing intel officer went nowhere fast, but it all started at immigration. I found out the most heartbreaking information about Pilar’s background. How do you live through the murder of your parents and then have to flee to escape those same people who are trying to kill you too? This girl has been through hell and back. Thank God she has a strong case for asylum. I have some good people helping push the paperwork through, but she needs more than just bureaucratic assistance. She’s got to be able to talk this out of her system. She’s been through so much. She’s going to need a lot of help from foster parents who have the patience and love to get her through memories that are going to haunt her until the day she dies. Are we really the people who can help her? I truly had my doubts.

Then I saw Kensi’s face. When I told her that Rosa was on the phone and wanted to talk to her, Kensi’s face just glowed. She was so in her element as mama bear protecting her young. That’s when I knew we could take on this challenge together and help this young girl. As tough as today was it warmed my heart to listen to Kensi talk with Rosa. The love in her voice and in her heart made me realize we can do this. I couldn’t keep from smiling.

  1. I watched this episode. I thought that Kensi was talking with Rosa, not Pilar.
