NCISLA Classified Preview: “Citadel” (S7E2)

NCISLA CITADEL 4

Title: “Citadel”

Airing: September 28th

Filming: August 4th to August 12th

What CBS is telling us: DEA agent Talia Del Campo (Mercedes Mason) turns to the NCIS: Los Angeles team for help after her partner is murdered. Also, after Kensi grows suspicious that Deeks is hiding something, he surprises her by introducing her to his mother (Pamela Reed), on NCIS: LOS ANGELES.

What we think is happening: Talia’s back and we’re meeting Mother Deeks. Doesn’t seem to be much of a secret agenda in the CBS episode description.

Be on the lookout:

RECURRING CAST:
Mercedes Mason as DEA Agent Talia Del Campo
Back from “Deep Trouble” Part Two and based on the promos, trouble is back in town.

GUEST CAST:
Shannon Cochran as Dr. Susan Rathburn
Appears on Scandal as Attorney General Susan Sawyer. Was in NCIS season 11 episode “Bulletproof”.

Jake Lockett as Jon Bennett
Was one of the missing hikers in a Scorpion episode last season. Got a little too physical in a scene with Chris O’Donnell according to his Instagram account:

He also forgot to zip up for this photo, as noted by Mercedes Mason:

Pamela Reed as Mrs. Deeks
I’m really going to need an explanation for “Mrs. Deeks”– second husband? Did someone adopt Deeks? I need answers! And a first name for Mrs. Deeks. Reed is a wonderful addition to the series- she’s a great comic actress who is equally skilled in drama.

Reed has played a number of interesting mothers in recent years– Marlene Knope on Parks & Recreation, Mrs. Stone on Eli Stone and Gail Green on Jericho. This means that Amy Poehler, Jonny Lee Miller and Skeet Ulrich are possible Deeks TV siblings.

Daniela Ruah posted a photo with Reed:

John Sloan as DEA Agent Mark Moore
Was in season 11’s “Rock and a Hard Place” on NCIS.

Erin Krakow as Emily Moore
Co-stars on When Calls the Heart as Elizabeth Thatcher and is Specialist Tanya Gabriel in Army Wives. Krakow made some friends on the set:

Craig Tsuyumine as Assistant
Guest starred in a number of comedies and dramas.

Masterminds:

While Talia and Kensi may not be BFFs, Mercedes Mason and Daniela Ruah look to be having a blast:

Chris O’Donnell is channeling Ralph Macchio/Daniel Russo in a high rise:

LL Cool J is sitting in a much safer place in the high rise.

Preview:

Sneak Peek #1:

For all the questionable behavior in the promo, Talia here seems genuinely upset after her partner’s murder.

Sneak Peek #2:

So Deeks has a new place. I’m guessing that picture of Deeks with Kensi and his Mom is from the new place. There is a surfboard on the wall and pictures of surfers. Can’t imagine that would be his mother’s décor of choice.

The Kensi-Deeks relationship seems to be the source of much entertainment and little angst in the office.

Last week was a solid start to Season 7. Hopefully, “Citadel” will make it two good episodes in a row.

  1. Tess, you ROCK!!! You’ve done an outstanding job of compiling all the twitter, i’grams and sneak peeks and adding commentary. I’ve watched #2 multiple times already. It’s fabulous to re-visit all the social media postings in light of the info on the upcoming episode. And all in one place! WikiDeeks is my favorite place to visit😄
And what?!?! What does DK mean by game-changer in his tweet? I remember reading it when he posted and thought it was a tease on the case …now… especially after re-naming the episode.

Excited for timorrow😄😄. Thank you, Tess!

    • Oh my goodness, thank you so much for your kind words!

A guess – the game changer is meeting “Mrs. Deeks” (still need a full explanation on that – and a first name). Mothers usually are.

  2. Forgot to mention the look on Kensi’s face when she realized that the dinner normally is followed by a question which never happened (thank goodness, would have been too early for me). Seeing the actors enjoying each other’s company on the set is great too!

  3. Very very good preview – Thanks Tess, and I would not have recognized the surfboard if you hadnt told me….

    • Thank you. It is just a guess it is Deeks’s board but it makes sense.

      • Thanks for the great preview, I too didn’t recognize the surfboard. But I think it’s possible the house is mom’s and board is Mr. Deeks’. Maybe Mr. Deeks taught Marty how to surf, and the surfers in the photos are two Deeks’. Of course it’s still mystery if “Mr. Deeks” exists or not, so just a little guess.

  4. I’m looking forward to tomorrow more than I did the premiere. I hope Kensi gets the invitation to move in, ala Praesidium and the ship mate discussion. Awesome preview-thank you!
