NCISLA Classified Preview: “Golden Days” (S8E22)

Title:   “Golden Days”
Airing:   April 30th
Filming:  March 14th to March 22nd (the Paleyfest LA event was during the shooting of this episode).
What CBS is telling us:   A gold heist investigation has the NCIS team working with Hetty’s former Vietnam War colleagues, Retired Admiral AJ Chegwidden (John M. Jackson), Admiral Sterling Bridges (James Remar) and Retired Captain Charles Langston (Carl Lumbly), on NCIS: LOS ANGELES.
What we think is happening:  Hetty’s friends are back for a second (third for Admiral Chegwidden) episode.  A Joe Wilson episode means stunts aplenty while Rick Tunell offered a hint of what else is coming to the program.

Be on the lookout: GUEST CAST:

John M. Jackson as Retired Admiral AJ Chegwidden
James Remar as Admiral Sterling Bridges
Carl Lumbly as Retired Navy Captain Charles Langston

All three terrific actors are back from last week.

This is the simplest guest cast “Be on the lookout” I’ve ever done since all the actors were in the prior episode.

Masterminds:

Written By:  Joseph C. Wilson and Lee A. Carlisle

Joseph C. Wilson wrote or co-wrote “Full Throttle”, “Stand-off”, “Personal”, “Plan B”, “Sacrifice”, “Blye, K.” Part One, “Gold Standard”, “Unwritten Rule”, “Fallout”, “Between the Lines”, “Exposure”, “Reign Fall”, “Kolcheck, A.”, “Cancel Christmas”, “Head of The Snake” as well as this season’s “Home is Where the Heart Is” and “Queen Pin”.

Lee A. Carlisle has been a writers assistant for the program since the start of season seven.  He also worked on King and Maxwell (Shane Brennan’s USA Network series) and wrote several short films.

Directed By:  Ruba Nadda.  This is Nadda’s second episode, “Under Siege” being her first.

Insider Intel:  None this week.

Official Photographic Evidence:  At SpoilerTV (not a lot of official photos this week).

Unofficial Surveillance:

John Peter Kousakis is promising big stunts with Joseph “Boom” Wilson writing the episode:

Not in the press release guest actor Christopher Naoki Lee took some photos of his days on the set:

Preview:

The official CBS promo:

Anyone else concerned that in this generic promo, Deeks is being shown doing heroic things when he’s actually breaking out of jail and confessing to a murder?  Can’t be just me.

This preview aired at the end of “Battle Scars”:

Sneak Peek:

Possible Sports Related Delays:  None expected.  We should be running every week on-time until the May 14th season finale.  This season has flown by.

  2. Tess,
great job as usual putting this all together, thank you.
I have to assume the lack of Deeks means something is up.
we were told we would get a proposal, with Deeks wanting it to be perfect, I don’t think doing it when Sam’s family is in trouble would be good timing. So, I will guess it has to happen in this episode or early in the next one before things go sideways. then again, i always thought that Whiting would grab Deeks before the end of the season..perhaps for the cliffhanger finale.
lots of possibilities for bad things to happen, but I am holding out hope for something good…that we have waited for for a long time..
    I am excited…

    • Thanks Ed, these are always fun to do (even the ones with light social media).

I’m interested in Rick Tunell’s comments. I’m hoping that’s good news.

      Thanks again!

  3. Yes thank you for putting all this together for us fans. I forget to comment; I come here often and always give a thumbs up to everyone; if for some reason I give a thumb down I at least explain why; but that doesn’t happen all that often. I really enjoy this site; its wonderful and we/us fans are truly grateful for all the hard work and dedication that goes into this — Bowing to you with Gratitude! 🙂

    • Thank you!

The social media is always a mixed bag. Some actors/writers/directors take photos of everything. Others aren’t even online.

Glad you love the site. While my contributions are small, the folks here are all amazingly talented, fun and kind. Can’t ask for anything more!

      Thank you again.

  7. Thanks for your preview! I’m really looking forward to this episode after the first part in which I found many unexpected things I liked. I may be wrong, but I don’t think Deeks’ proposal will be tonight. I have a feeling that this long-awaited (by Densi fans) scene has been penned either by Frank Military or Scott Gemmill (the writers of episodes 23 and 24) who seem to have written a lot of high-quality Densi scenes lately, starting from the beautiful pre-proposal scene in season 7 (The seventh child) up to this season (pre-filmed Densi scenes before DR’s maternity leave).
At the same time, though, I agree with those of you who think the last two episodes may be too full of Sam’s family drama and angst to have enough time for a Densi engagement too. So I honestly don’t know. Some more hours and we’ll see…

    • Thank you!

I wouldn’t undersell Joe Wilson’s episodes when it comes to Kensi and Deeks. He has been involved with a number of really important episodes in their partnership/relationship. But they may also want to save it for the Sam-heavy final two episodes because Kensi and Deeks could realizes what they have is what Sam will be fighting to get back.

      Thanks again!

  9. Guest cast not in the press release:

Karina Logue as Det. Ellen Whiting

Last seen nearly bleeding to death in “Under Siege”. I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a lot more of her in season nine.

    Rachael Holmes as Mallory Fletcher

And here I thought all the CBS Sunday at 8PM Fletchers were on the side of good. Jessica would be so disappointed in you Mallory.

Holmes plays Erica in the Amazon series Mad Dogs and appeared in episodes of The Good Wife, Chasing Life and Dirt.

    Guri Weinberg as Yaniv

    Back from last week.

    Mat Botuchis as Hoodie/Asher Groves

Plays Chris on The Middle and was Dave in Will & Grace. Appeared in episodes of Love Bites, Dirt, Even Stevens, The District, The Andy Dick Show, 7th Heaven and Days of Our Lives.

    Edward Gelhaus as Beard-O/David Belle

Plays a lot of characters with names like Skinhead Ed, Skinhead or White Supremacist in episodes of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Better Call Saul and Rizzoli & Isles.

Christopher Naoki Lee as Xionshou Song Thug

Appeared in episodes of The Catch, Switched at Birth, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Hawaii Five-0, Strong Medicine and Suddenly Susan.

    Marcus Nativdad as Lead Biker
