New Deeks teaser from @jpkouz!
Earlier today, NCIS: Los Angeles Executive Producer, John Peter Kousakis, tweeted a teaser involving our hero and an upcoming episode:
@jpkouz: Deeks will use uncharacteristic means to ascertain vital information. #keepwatching #staytuned #upcomingep #NCISLA #jpkteaser #Uasked4it
So now we have to ask: What “uncharacteristic means” will Deeks use? And, what information is he after? Tell us what you think in the comments section now!

This isn’t going to be funny. My first thought was Deeks acting “uncharacteristic” will have him making a questionable, troubling choice. Perhaps he’s trying to get information about Kensi’s whereabouts or info she needs regarding White Ghost, and will go a step too far. Maybe he puts himself in danger; maybe he physically hurts a suspect. Perhaps he goes far outside SOP. Anything like this could have Kensi questioning not just her partner, but who Deeks truly is as a person.
Yet his justification is he would do anything for her, but military-raised, rule-bound Kensi is unaccepting of his choice. Just my initial reaction… Stay tuned.

I think we might finally get to see that dark side of Deeks, the one that Max Gentry comes from. Only this time it will be real, not undercover. The only reason I can think of that he would let his dark side loose is to save Kensi from we-know-not-what danger. I can absolutely see him hurting or even torturing a suspect to find out where Kensi is. And if that suspect turns out to be Jack, there would be even more powerful ramifications. Either way, it’s likely that Kensi finds out about a side of Deeks she didn’t know existed. And since she’s not exactly the understanding or forgiving sort, so much the worse for their “thing.”

Yeah, this is going to be scary and I have to wonder if it will upset us as fans of the character as to what he is going to do that is so uncharacteristic and will it relate any to the PTSD that he suffers with? I think when it comes to Kensi he doesn’t think straight (ie when he wouldn’t take the shot) and I agree he will do anything he has to do to have her back and keep her safe whether it’s legal or not….and his Max characteristics come from a place deep down that he keep hidden and only brings out undercover but I wouldn’t be surprised at all that Max will be the one he calls on to help him when push comes to shove.

While I like occasionally like seeing the darkness that is Max Gentry, I fear what it will do to Deeks to bring out that dark side of his nature when he is not undercover. Uncharacteristic for him would have to be rage. If something happens to Kensi, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him overcome with rage and I think that will be an eye opener for all of the team if he resorts to violence to get a suspect to talk. As Philly Di mentioned, it could be a manifestation of his PTSD, or it could be the ghost of his own father that he keeps hidden so well, even from himself. I know it would shock the others, but I worry what it may do to him to realize he couldn’t control that darkness and anger he inherited from his father. It may scare him more than the others and may make him second guess himself. I am afraid for him if this happens. I don’t want to see Deeks change too much, but this is a part of him we have only seen in Human Traffic, where he threatened to shoot Scarli and screams in rage right in his face.
